Mitchell Community College Health Sciences Project “Invaluable” Addition

The Statesville Record & Landmark published a terrific story about the planned addition to Mitchell Community College’s campus if the bond passes:

On Nov. 4, voters will be faced with two bond requests that are completely separate: $119.5 million for Iredell-Statesville Schools and Mooresville Graded School District that would pay for several projects, and $12 million for a new allied health building on Mitchell’s main Statesville campus.

The allied health building would bring together several nursing programs that are spread across several locations, greatly expand the college’s hospital simulation facilities and free up space to enlarge the most popular offerings on campus, college transfer courses.

“It’d be hard to put a number on it. I think it’s truly invaluable,” Brewer said about what he believes the public’s return on investment will be if the $12 million bond is passed. “This allows us to provide real training for real people for real jobs that we know there’s a need for.”
