Five Candidates for County Commission Support Bond Referendum

Last night, at a public forum for Iredell County Commissioner candidates, five candidates publicly endorsed the November 4 bond referendum for Iredell-Statesville and Mooresville Schools and for Mitchell Community College.

James Mallory, Marvin Norman, Lydia Sullivan, Kenneth Ward, and Zake Zsarmani each stated they supported the bonds.

“These candidates have shown they’re serious about supporting education in Iredell County,” Vickie Sawyer, spokesperson for Our Schools First said. “Their leadership in endorsing these important projects is inspiring for students in our community who lack safe or appropriate classrooms at their schools.”

The candidates bridged partisanship in their agreement of support for the bond referendum; two of the supporters are Republican, and three are Democrat.

Former Chair of the County Commissioners Sara Haire Tice added her support yesterday, too. “For many years I have worked with strong businesses, such as Lowe’s,  to bring jobs to Iredell County. Employers speak loud and clear to say ‘we must have an educated workforce,'” she said. “Supporting this bond is the right thing to do.”
