Mooresville has long needed a new middle school–it was scrapped from the 2014 bond referendum–and now voters can help relieve overcrowding in the system.

The 2020 school bond includes $35 million for a new Mooresville Middle School.

The facility will be constructed on Rinehardt Road. The district purchased property several years ago in anticipation of needing the new facility.

A new middle school will also allow for renovations and expansions to South Elementary and Park View Elementary. MGSD will secure private loan to assist with these costs to save taxpayers money.

With the new facility, the district can “re-grade” existing schools to help with room at all levels: Elementary schools will be K-2, Intermediate will be 3-5, Middle will be 6-8, High will remain 9-12.
